Since the 21st century, there have been predictions that various shifts in human cultures and advancements in science and technology would alter the paradigm of warfare. Particularly, the military application of unmanned systems based on AI, VR, and other technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution was an extremely intriguing issue. Among these predictions, one weapon system that has emerged in reality and garnered attention is drones. Drones have evolved since the 1980s when the United States operated the Pioneer medium-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, followed by the operation of the Global Hawk high-altitude precision reconnaissance aircraft in the 1990s, and the emergence of the MQ-1 armed with precision-guided missiles in the 2000s. Following the United States, many countries including the United Kingdom, France, India, Spain, and Taiwan operate drones as reconnaissance and attack assets with enhanced armament capabilities. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the threat of North Korean military drones in light of these background factors.
